Varex Imaging is currently looking for a R&D Engineer to support our Salt Lake City, Utah facilities.
We are looking for an awesome engineer to join our research and development department as a broad skilled R&D engineer that can contribute and lead mechanical hardware development to drive new product to market.
We are creating and introducing new x-ray tubes for various modalities, including CT, mammography, CV, and radiography. You will be joining a diverse R&D group that develops high quality x-ray tube products for major and developing OEM partners and has a lot of fun doing it. If you can handle challenging product requirements and deadlines, work with a broad range of technical backgrounds, handle success and failure with an indomitable spirit, and work through the rigors of R&D work - we would love to talk to you!
Within this team you will work with the full set of engineering disciplines and processes used to develop, procure, build, test, and qualify new products. You will be responsible for all facets of product development as well as the accompanying documentation and regulatory required for a medical device of this type. You will also be responsible to present the results and have continuous improvement of development methods, test protocols, and tools. Experience in documentation and verification and validation activities within a regulated environment is preferred. Strong experience with manufacturing and assembly processes and methods along with experience developing electro-mechanical components and sub-systems is preferred. The ideal candidate has worked with X-ray tubes or systems, and is familiar with using high voltage generators, x-ray tubes, and laboratory measurement equipment.
Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Applied physics with 5+ years of experience; or
- Masters of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Applied physics with 3+ years of experience
- At least 5+ years of experience in overall general engineering and understanding of applied physics (we us all the mechanical and electrical disciplines, metallurgy, materials, manufacturing processes, electron beam manipulation and control, and chemical cleaning and surface preparation processes)
- Experience in medical device industry
- Generate requirements, specifications, defining test methods/criteria/protocols and validation
- Highly motivated and self-driven
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
- Be awesome
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience using ANSYS, Solidworks, and other CAE tools
- Demonstrated success in driving products to market
- Demonstrated desire and ability to learn and apply what is learned
